Privacy Policy

Around helps you find and join small real-life activities nearby. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect

Account details. Your email address, used to sign you in. If you sign up, we also store a display name, optional city, bio, and interests you choose to share.
Precise location. Only while you are using the app, and only after you grant permission. We use it to center the map and rank nearby activities. You can turn it off in iOS Settings.
Activities you host or join. The title, description, place, time, and any cover photo you attach. This is shown to other people in the app.
Chat messages. Messages you send in an activity's group chat are stored so other members can read them.

We don't sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers.

2. How we use your data

Show you activities nearby and let you join or host one.
Deliver group chat messages between members.
Send notifications for things you signed up for.
Keep the service running and safe.

3. Who can see what

Other users. Your display name, avatar, city if you set one, and activities you host or are participating in are visible to other members of those activities.
Group chat members. Messages are visible to anyone approved into that activity's group chat.
Hosts. If you request to join an activity, the host sees your display name, avatar, and request.

4. How long we keep it

Account and profile data: until you delete your account.
Activities: until you delete them.
Chat messages: kept while the activity exists; deleted with the activity.

5. Your choices

Edit your profile. Profile tab → gear icon → Edit Profile.
Turn off location. iOS Settings → Around → Location.
Turn off notifications. iOS Settings → Around → Notifications.
Block another user. From their activity detail → more menu → Block.
Sign out. Profile tab → gear icon → Sign Out.
Delete your account. Reach out through the link on our website and we will delete your profile, hosted activities, and messages within 30 days.

6. Safety and meeting in person

Around helps people meet in real life. Activities should take place in public places. Use your judgment, keep plans in the in-app chat, and meet where you feel comfortable. Report or block anyone who makes you uncomfortable.

7. Security

We use HTTPS for all traffic, access control on the database, and secure key storage on your device. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee that data will never be accessed by an unauthorized party.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Around after a change means you accept the updated policy.
